Invitation

The dual challenges of global climate change and rapid population growth are placing unprecedented pressure on agricultural production, making innovative solutions to ensure food security more critical than ever. As a cornerstone of agricultural innovation, plant breeding plays a pivotal role in enhancing crop productivity, improving quality, and addressing these pressing global issues.

Plant breeding, defined as the science of developing new plant varieties with desirable traits by harnessing genetic variation, is vital for meeting humanity’s most fundamental need: food security.

Experts estimate that the natural flora could sustain only 5% of today’s global population, underlining the transformative impact of advancements in plant genetics and breeding. The remarkable achievements in this field have been instrumental in supporting human survival and enabling sustainable agricultural production.

A resilient future for agriculture depends on well-structured breeding programs and skilled plant breeders. The International Plant Breeding Congress (IPBC) has served as a platform for participants worldwide to exchange ideas and explore innovations in 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2022.

The 5th IPBC, scheduled for December 1–5, 2025, in Antalya, Türkiye, will address the latest advancements and developments in various plant breeding activities. Key themes will include innovative strategies to mitigate the impacts of climate change, the integration of digital and precision technologies, and cutting-edge breeding methodologies.

Esteemed keynote speakers and leading researchers will present their findings, fostering collaboration and driving progress in the field.

This congress will bring together plant breeders, geneticists, agronomists, plant geneticists, biotechnologists, researchers, academicians, students and decision makers, providing a unique platform for knowledge sharing, networking, and collaboration. By uniting global stakeholders, the 5th IPBC aims to contribute to sustainable agricultural production and food security worldwide.

We warmly invite all researchers, academicians, and students eager to share their knowledge, expertise and experience or learn about the latest developments in plant breeding to join us at the 5th IPBC.
